MR. SIATH HEN TO BE HONORED BY KQED
(San Jose, CA) – KQED Public Broadcasting and Union Bank of California, with support from the Center for Asian American Media, announced they are honoring Mr. Siath Hen as a “Local Hero.”
Mr. Hen has demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to community service through his work as a mental health counselor with Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) in San Jose and as a leader in the Cambodian community in Santa Clara County.
Mr. Hen came to the United States as a refugee from Cambodia, and he has served as a mental health counselor at AACI for 25 years. He is one of a handful of counselors in Santa Clara County who speaks fluent Cambodian.
In addition to his work at AACI, Mr. Hen spends his volunteer time on weekends helping fellow Cambodians become citizens, organizing community events, and assisting with delivery of services to needy residents of the community.
Mr. Hen will be recognized at an Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the KQED Public Broadcasting Center in San Francisco. For more information about the event, please call 415-553-2382.
