Description:
AACI's Health Education & Promotion department is dedicated to addressing the health priorities of Asian Americans in Santa Clara County, offering a range of services that help clients maintain good health and obtain necessary health care. The Project provides culturally and linguistically competent services such as health screenings, lectures, referrals, and case management to help clients overcome barriers to access quality health care and improve the quality of life in our community.

Services Offered: ;

• HIV/AIDS Education & Outreach Program - education and outreach to the Asian MSM population; spreading the word about the need for HIV testing;
• Health Screenings - working with other community agencies to help organize health days to educate the community regarding the importance of annual screening and access to a reliable "medical home";
• Community Technology Center @ AACI - pilot program providing Asian seniors health education and high-speed Internet access to valuable health information in the clients' native language; includes classes on how to "navigate the web" for health information and research;
• Health Lectures - health education opportunities on such topics as stroke, nutrition, diabetes, heart diseases, eye diseases, and cancer; and
• Phone HelpLine - providing information, referrals, and support for those seeking health care; help with eligibility to such programs as breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, Healthy Families/Healthy Kids, Medi-Cal, etc.
